About Grace

Grace Schradle was born and raised here in our small community of Clayton, Wisconsin. She was always smiling. She was filled with joy. She loved life. She loved her siblings. She loved her family. She loved her friends. She adored animals. Dogs, cats, horses, slightly obsessed with koalas. She enjoyed trying different foods like pho and edamame. She used chopsticks all the time. She loved random facts. She wanted to travel. Norway and Australia were at the top of her list. She loved trips to Minneapolis and Chicago, always in awe of the skyscrapers and architecture. She listened to many genres of music daily, known for never listening to any one song from start to finish before playing the next. She had a tennis shoe collection.

She played volleyball year round. It wasn’t about being the best, it was about being the best teammate she could be, friendship, and family. She worked incredibly hard, because we told her hard work pays off. When she wasn’t working on her craft, she was playing basketball, softball, or in the weight room at school. She had a very infectious and magnetic personality. Always her true self with sparkle in her eyes and a zest for life. She had heart. She was kind, humble, loyal, and loving.

For her 16th birthday she made a wall of inspiration filled with quotes and mottos, words to live by. One that stood out for her was a Nike ad: “Be Legendary.” It had nothing to do with wanting to be the greatest, because she was always trying to improve. It’s bigger now. She loved to love. That’s a true legacy to leave in our world.

Now it is up to us to carry that spirit forward for her. Impact and imprints on hearts and lives. Families aren’t supposed to shrink, they are supposed to expand, so we all agree that she will remain with us and beside us, in all we are, all we do, and in our hearts. She would want to spread love and goodness wherever possible. She will always be more than a memory. She would lend a helping hand. This world continues to turn while we do our best to give grace, because she will forever be our daughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a granddaughter, a co-worker, and a friend. On September 16th, 2019, she was called home. With her brave and strong spirit, she earned her wings, some would say with faith over fear.
